| Hello everyone, I just found this site and I thought I would show you some of the Alfa 75's here in Athens. I have thr cars, a silver 3.0 12v, a red 3.0 24v and a red 1.8Turbo. They are all daily driven cars but modified for trackdays also. The 12v has 236hp, the 24v has 272hp and the Turbo has 210hp (to be greatly increased soon). The 12v and 24v cars both have been seam-welded and have a special 8-pt rollcage which does not interfere with rear passengers. They all have uprated suspension and brakes (310x28mm + 4-pot Brembos in the front) and the 24v car has the complete RSRacing setup. All interiors are the rare factory Recaro in perfect condition. I have spent a lot of time building the engines, mostly for street/trackday use. Future projects are a 3.2 liter where I hope to see more than 300hp and a good 1.8T with more than 270hp -very easy and very reliable with this engine, if properly built. Here are the dyno mapping sessions for the 24v and 12v cars last April: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe5h682GW4s and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxs1LrxZ ... ure=relmfu Here is also a picture of the 24v engine and of the car two weeks ago. Sorry I don't speak French....My English and Italian are very good; I also speak Greek very well... Jim K. | |

| Ciao Jim. | |

| Welcome Jim, Happy to see you here! I've read your 2 books DOHC and V6 ENGINES... Many questions in the future to be asked from us I think. I need to know more about 24V, especially about cam diagrams.
My sites are in my signature (you will see that I prefer carburated engines)

| Again thanks to all of you! I have no plans to deal with boxer engines at all ....I like rear wheel drive cars! At the moment, I am collecting all the parts for the 3.2liter. I have CPS pistons, THS-JK rods, 47mm ITB's and an Emerald K6 ecu. As soon as I can ...pay, I will get the cams and crankshaft -still need ~1200€ for these! I also have a set of bigger valves (37mm as compared to std 35.6mm). However, it looks like larger valves are not required in this engine, as with the std valves flow can easily approach 160cfm. The cams will use a hydraulic profile, which is very reliable at least up to 7800rpm. Unfortunately -and in my opinion- Alfa chose the wrong dimensions for the V6! It would be a much more interesting and successful engine, with 86x86mm for the 3liter and 88x88mm for the 3.2liter. Of course this would mean different internal parts. If you think about it, there is enough room for a little wider block by about 12mm (because of the longer stroke). The general complaint of low speed 'weakness' would disappear and the 24v would not require 8000rpm for serious power! Anyway, now all this is dreaming As for 24v cams, there are several choices, depending on how much power you want and your preference of hydraulic or mechanical followers. There are limitations though, because of the follower diameter (33mm) valve springs and height of valve guides We will have discussions about this when the time comes... For now, to get better acquainted I have some more pictures of the 1.8T and the 3liter 12v cars and some of their parts: Jim K. | |

| I love this one. My main job for the moment is to put 3 Weber 48 IDF on the same engine, but with original distributor driven by one camshaft as Dino V6. No harness alteration in this configuration. Intake manifold drawn, ready to be home machined. | |

| IDF..... Nice carbs, I remember playing with those many years ago in a '76 Ford Escort MKII... I have a perfect set of Dellorto FRPA40 to sell if anyone is interested. However, they still need special manifolds to mount on newer engines. Jim K. | |

| These carbs, FRPA 40, are coming from an Alfa 6. They are ok for a genuine 2.5 either with the 6 special heads or with special manifods on standard gtv6 heads.
But to small to go to higher revs or with a 3.0... That's why I will install IDF 48 on my 24V and "only" 44 IDF on a 12V 3.0.
FRPA's are reliable but need to be altered to use today's fuel, particulary richness curves. Some danger for the engine running in the weak area...

| FRPA40 can be used on a std 3liter 12v engine with proper manifolds, as originally used in the SA 3liters -different heads with integral manifolds like Alfa 6. They can only be increased (with a lot of work) to 42mm. IDF, IDA and DCNF are easier to tune. For your 24v, why not go to aftermarket efi? I can understand the cost of 3xIDF may be lower, but with efi you can also play with the ignition advance (and other possible functions) and tailor the engine perfectly for your modifications. Perhaps for the pleasure to do something different... Than the others! After market EFI was my first idea. In my workshop I had many IDF 36 and DRLA40 and one day I just had the idea to do this. I did many mesures, thinking about many possibilities. I thought to stay with genuine 164 Q4 ignition system, but it seemed too complicated to plug with Alfa 6 harness... I've seen a Fiat Dino V6, with its distributor on the front of engine, and I said to myself that it was a simple solution. And it will give an old fashion look to the engine! The manifold I will machine will be able to accept Jenvey EFI bodies without any alteration, if a change was necessary in the future... | |

| Hi Jim,
Great to see you on here!
You're in Greece now, any plans to go back to Canada or did you move recently?
I found your book on veloce publishing's website back in 2008, waited a few years for it and wrote then every now and again to enquire about your progress!
The book's now in the hands of a friend of mine who races a 75 grA, here's the link to his youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/teamv6
I'm sure we'd all love to see more vids of your cars in action, you must create quite a stir everytime you take one out!
Take care Thomas | |

| I have been in Athens for many years now. I went to Toronto in June for about 2 weeks, as I was most fortunate to be invited to the wonderful Alfa Canadese Convention for North American Alfa Clubs. So many Alfisti and so many different Alfas of all kinds .... I am slowly (because of financial conditions) working on two important projects, one with the 1.8T engine and one with the 3.2 engine. In the first case, I intend to produce an engine with ~260-280hp, capable 100% for daily traffic use and a great trackday performer. It will of course have the required legal exhaust emissions and the best fuel economy possible. The V6, will also be a daily driver with excellent trackday performance. Expected power should be ~300-320hp, depending on the cams used -I have not decided yet. I will post detail reports here from time to time, when I complete important milestones of all related work. Let's see what is available so far: -1.8T: Block is align-bored, crankshaft/pulley/flywheel are fully balanced. JE forged pistons, new liners. Intake cam has 10.8mm lift, 282* duration, compression ratio 8.5:1. GT2854R turbocharger on Evoluzione exhaust manifold, std factory intercooler (initially and then water-cooled modification). Original fuel injection ecu, higher flow injectors, Aeromotive pressure regulator and MSD 6530 programmable CD ignition box. The factory afm (airflow meter) will also be used, recalibrated with the use of a wideband lambda sensor. Exhaust is 63mm OD throughout with two free-flow mufflers -no noise at all. This particular engine now has standard injectors and with the standard ignition, it makes 210hp and 34kgm at 1.2bar. My intention is to get as much power as I can, with the lowest cost... -3.2: Originally from a 164 3.0, the block will be align-bored. 3.2 crank will be balanced with pulley and lightened flywheel. CPS forged pistons, THS-JK rods, 11.5:1 compression ratio, special exhaust manifolds, 63mm OD exhaust system with two mufflers. As I said, camshafts are still unknown but possibly will be some BMW M3 profile (mechanical) or some special hydraulic profile, still in research. I already have ITB's, but will first use with std 75 V6 throttle body and plenum. An Emerald K6 ecu is already here and will be suitably mapped on the dyno. So you see, its a lot of work and will take many months. Who knows, it may also appear in a second -revised- edition of the book. Jim K. | |
